The Chahbazian genealogical Office was created in 2023 based on the observation that Armenian genealogy was a separate discipline within genealogy due to these specificities and that the offers of aid in France and around the world were quite limited.

The discipline is difficult due to being confronted with a rather specific context of a genocide, with the destruction of some records and limited or even impossible access for others. The fact that Armenians live in the diaspora is also an obstacle to genealogical investigations because it is necessary to know the genealogical research methods of the countries of the diaspora and the languages used there.

The founder of the office is Laurent Le Guyader Chahbazian who, before becoming a genealogist, was a design engineer in software development for 25 years. Having Armenian origins, he carried out his personal genealogical research for 20 years which led him to investigate in the United States, France, Lebanon and Turkey.

The study is not limited to Armenian genealogy and carries out investigations in the West Indies in such a specific context where we find ourselves confronted with slavery and the loss of identity and also in mainland France, as in Brittany, in Île-de-France, in Ardèche, in Vendée, in Lot-et-Garonne, in the PACA region...

Laurent Le Guyader Chahbazian also draws his experience through participation in the creation of the Armenian genealogy association R.I.G.A (Le Relais International de Généalogie Arméenne) in 2020 to help Armenians of Armenian origin find their roots.

He became an administrator and head of the genealogy department, and shares his experience by regularly participating in conferences, genealogy fairs and by writing articles published in French or international genealogy journals.

He has already carried out numerous heir research missions in collaboration with inheritance genealogy firms and has helped dozens of individuals in their genealogical research.

The Office relies on an international network made up of numerous contacts in the Armenian diaspora to carry out the genealogical missions entrusted to it.
